Guangzhou Poly International Plaza named Architectural Design of the Year at the Asia Pacific Commercial Real Estate Awards
Guangzhou Poly International Plaza, designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, was named the AP CRE Architectural Design of 2006 at the Asia Pacific Real Estate Awards ceremony held this week at the Shanghai Westin hotel. The Gala event was attended by property professionals active in the region.
The Awards for 2006 were presented at a Gala reception dinner attended by representatives of major real estate companies and industry professionals active in Asia Pacific markets at Shanghais Westin hotel on Wednesday 4 April. The event provided recognition for the most accomplished designs and projects in the region and for the companies who have contributed most to the development of different market sectors, as voted by market professionals. With local and international media organisations present, the Gala also acted to publicise both companies and the projects and designs they have worked on.
Individuals and companies had the opportunity to make on-line nominations for awards of projects and companies and to give the reasons for their choices. These nominations were put before a jury* of leading market professionals active in the region who discussed the pros and cons of the different candidates before coming to joint decisions as to the winner of each award.
The Architectural Design prize was one of three in the design category awarded by the jury. The Award for Urban Design of 2006 went to Kohn Pedersen Fox for their Huamao Center project in Beijing and that for Interior Design was won by Werkhart International for their design for the China Life Insurance building also in Beijing.
The Project of the Year Awards went to the projects deemed by the jurors to be the most accomplished developments in a series of market sectors. ProLogis Park Lingang, developed by the logistics company ProLogis, was named Industrial Project of 2006 and Hong Yi Plaza, developed by Shanghai Hongyi Property won the Mixed Use Project of 2006 Award. Sansiri, a Thai developer, won the Residential Project of 2006 Award for its Baab Sansiri Sukhumvit project and Guangzhou Metro investment took the Retail/Leisure Project of 2006 Award for its Guangzhou Animation City Retail development. ZhongGuanCan West, developed by Beijing Science Park, won the Office Project of the Year Award.
Awards were also presented to companies for their contribution to the real estate sector in 2006. CapitaLand won the Developer of 2006 Award and ING Real Estate was named Investor of 2006. HSBC took the Bank and Finance Company of 2006 Award, CB Richard Ellis was named the Consultant/Property Agent of the Year and Levett and Bailey won the Cost or Specialist Consultant Award.

Pacific Awards Gala
TheAsia Pacific Commercial Real Estate Awards 2006will be presented at a Gala reception dinner attended by major companies and industry professionals active in the Asia Pacific region at theWestin Shanghai Hotelon Wednesday April 4th 2007.
The objective of the event is to provide recognition for the most accomplished projects in the region and for those companies and individuals who have contributed most to the development of the market in its different sectors as voted by market professionals.
The Gala event will also act as a vehicle to publicize the different market sectors to the local and international media organizations present.
Individuals and companies have the opportunity to nominate online the best project, person or company for an award and to give reasons for their choice. These nominations will be put before a jury of leading market professionals active in the region who will discuss the pros and cons of the different nominations before coming to a collective decision on the winners.

The award for Architecture recognizes excellence in Architecture, Restoration, Preservation and Adaptive Re-use. The award for Urban Design recognizes excellence in Urban Design and Planning. The award for Interior Design recognizes excellence in the field of Interior Design.
The time-line for Urban Design should be completion by 2006 and implementation commencing in 2006. The requirements for Architectural & Interior Design are that at least one phase of the project (construction) must have been completed in 2006.

Nominations should be made on the basis of quality of design, quality of construction materials and construction process in relation to costs, environmental concerns, accessibility and location. Also, their contribution to improvement of the local environment, solutions to market needs and commercial success and durability should be taken into account.
At least one phase of the project must have been completed in 2006. Individuals can nominate their own projects or projects they have worked on. EAch Award will be presented to the developer with overall responsibility for the project.
